Wearing Fur

Is wearing fur bad? What is fur? Fur is one of the oldest form of clothing. Well fur is leather with hair retained for its insulation properties. Animal fur is uesd in garments and trim. Fur can be dyed in to bright colours or to mimic exotic and animal patterns. The most common animal used is fox, rabbit, mink, seals, cats and even dogs. However seal products were banned in U.S in 1972 over concerns about Canadian seals. Also cats and dogs were banned under protection act in 2000. I think this is fair to both the animals. I think every animal should be under this act as its not fair on them to be killed for their fur.

Many people believe that fur is wrong and not fair but why do people wear fur? Fur will keep you warm in the winter, fur lasts forever, many people believe that by buying fur you are supporting thousands of people living on the land and that fur can be worn on all occasions.

Why people will not wear fur: some believe that if you wear fur, you are supporting a horrible and gruson industry, letting the animals live in poor condition, fur farming are often of a very poor quality and that some of the fur is from animals catch in a trap.

I'm not sure what I think of people wearing fur. I can see why people have a problem with it. But if the animals are already dead, why can't their fur be used. Also I think it can be nasty on the animals, if they are still alive and they can feel it. Why do people not think of the animals. In the UK, if an animal gets hurt companies like the RSPCA will stop it and I think why are they not doing this for people who kill for fur. The way the animals are kept on the farm it really horrible. Many people protest about the way the animals are kept and people wearing fur. I remember people throwing red paint on people wearing fur.

Their is a chairy that works to stop the animals getting hurt and to make sure that the animals have some kind of rights in the way there are treated. The PETA work with celebrities and others to help protect the animals. I think these chairties are really good and do help the animals. But I think there should be more done to help these animals.

Celebrities being bad

Everyone behaves bad even celebrities. There are many celebrities that miss behave, here are a few names: Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Khole Kardashian, Hugh Grant, Lil Wayne and Nicole Richie. Now I always believe that celebrities would behave themselves, with them being in the public eye and all. A lot of the behaviour is taking drugs, drink driving and smashing cars (Britney Spears). At the moment Lil Wayne has gone to prison for weapon possession. He has got a year in prison. Not a lot of celebrities get that long. Paris Hilton was give 45 days in prison but only spend 3 full days and was placed on a electronic tag . The reason for this was becasue of good behaviour. Well if she was so good why did she do the crime? I think a lot of the time they are honest mistakes but there are pushed in the public eye because we love to see them cock it all up.

One thing that I always find funny is that celebrities do these things and expect to get away with it because they are in the public eye. A lot of the time they do and that not fair on everyday people. If we did what some of them do we would go to prison for longer than 45 days. I think some of the reason could be for that celebrities to get in press.

Celebrities are not that bad it just, I would of thought that there would want to behave as young children look up to them. How can there be good role model if there are going to prision or take drugs it makes not sense to anyone.

Body Modification

Body modification is the deliberate altering of the human body. There are any different reasons why people would have a non-medical altering, such as sexual enhancement, aesthetic reason, trust and even loyalty. Body modification can either be socially acceptable to the religiously mandated. Body piercing, ear piercing, breast implants, silicone injection, hair removal and tongue splitting are all kinds of body modification. There are many long term body modification like corsetry, breast ironing and cranial binding which is very rare.
There are many celebrities who have taken body modification too far: Pete Burns, Jordon aka Katie Price and Michael Jackson. However there are also some non-celebrities who have taken body modification too far: Elaine Davidson "the most pierced women" Cindy Jackson "has had the most plastic surgery" and Katzen "catwomen"

I think everyone is aloud to do what there want to their body. It can improve someones self-esstem and make them feel good about themselves. However i think some people can take it too far like the "catwomen" she has fangs and has a tattoo all over her body I think its just weird thats all. I understand that people want to look different but that is taking it too far in my eyes. Plastic surgery is something that I would have done and the reason for this is because I think it can improve peoples lifes. But people can take it too far like Michael Jackson.

Tattoos

A lot of people have tattoos. I think some tattos look nice however I think some people have tattoos just to have them. In the UK, you have to be 18 to get one. A tattoo is a marking made by inserting indelible ink into the dermis layer of the skin to change the pigment for decorative or othere reasons. There are many different purposes for having a tattoo: decorative and spiritual uses, identification, cosmetic and medical. Tattoos on humans is a type of decorative body modification. You can get a tattoo on your arms, legs, ankles and even on your buttocks.

I don't think tattoos are a bad thing. I think some people take it too far. There is a man that has a skull tattoo on his face and a man that has glasses tattoo on his face. Which I think is silly, are these people going to wake up one day and go... what the
fuck have i done??
There are many television shows about people having tattoos and i think it highlights that a lot of people are having tattoos. To be fair, I would love a tattoo but I'm scared that it will hurt and I can't handle pain very well. My friends have told me that it doesn't hurt so what it stopping me??

Abortions

Everyone should be aloud to do what they want to do to their body. An abortions is the termination of a pregancy. There are many reasons why people have abortions: not wanting the pregancy, mental/physical well-being and can be to help the life of the women who is pregancy. An abortions can happen at 12 weeks up to 24 weeks.

People around the world believe that abortions are wrong and there has been a lot of debates about the rights or wrongs in a lot of cases. Many activists believe that they are ethical, moral and biological issues towards abortions. There are even debates about making it illegal to have an abortions. In the UK, there is an abortions act 1967. The act states that all abortion should be carried out in a hospital or licensed clinic.

To me, there is nothing wrong with having an abortions everyone has the right to have one. Many women get pregancy by accident and sometime can be the hardest decision one women had to make. I think women have the right but I also think men have to have a say in the descision. The reason for this is because it takes two to have sex and it should take two to make the descisions about whether to keep the baby or not.

Gambling

"In gambling, the many must lose in order that the few may win" George Benard Shaw.
Gambling is the wagering of money. There are many different types of gambling: Casino games, Table games, slot machine and Bingo. There are other forms of gambling: Betting on horse, greyhounds and even betting on sport. I can see why people get a gambling problem. When looking on the internet, there are a lot of gambling websites. Also on televisions, there are many adverts, telling people offers i.e pay £10 and get £10 free play. There are even gambling tips on the internet. This is wrong as it is telling people that it is fine to keep gambling and spending money on these games. When someone gets a gambling problem, it is always their fault but why is not companies not taking some of the blame? I think companies should take some responsible on the way that they advert the offers. I can see why people who get attrated to gambling, the buzz of winning and making more money. I think if someone was going to get a gambling problem it would ruin a family and make them have no money. Some people can be declared bankruptcy Here is a website that helps people stop gambling:
http://www.wanttostopgambling.com/

There is a gambling commission in the UK, that regulate commercial gambling in Great Britain. http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/

Bandits and Outlaws

Bandits and Outlaws can be called gangsters, crooks, gunslingers and desperados. An outlaw or bandits is a person living the lifestyle of outlawry; the word literally means "outside the law" In English common law, an outlaw was a person who had defied the laws of the realm, by such acts as ignoring a summons to court, or fleeing instead of appearing to plead when charged with a crime. Outlaws have become fictional characters. There has been a few movies about outlaws, the ones I know about are Jesse James and Robin Hood.

Robin hood:
He is a heroic outlaw in English folklane. A highly skilled archer and swords man, he was always know as the man wh0 robbed from the rich to give to the poor. He worked with a group of outlaws known to him as the "Merry Men"

Jesse James:
He was a modren day Robin Hood because it was said that he robbed from the rich to give to the poor however people described him as a kind man, a dapper dresser and a prankish charmer but he was also called a cold-blooded murderer, robber, horse thief, racist and a terrorist. He and his gang were very dangerous men.

Are these people right? Yes and No if these people are helping the poor and giving them money to basically live then they are good people but when they are taking from the rich and killing people like Jesse James i think it is wrong!! How are they helping others by taking from them? I understand why there do it but is it fair to kill people over money? No.

Swearing

Swearing is a common thing in the UK. I swear, my sisters swear and both my parents swear. Some people think swearing is insulting and rude. Swearing can easily become a habit and generally a bad habit. On average we swear 80-90 words each day, so how can people think it is rude and insulting?? Many people swear when they have hurt thenselves to help with the pain. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/science-news/5803300/Swearing-can-reduce-the-feeling-of-pain.html

I think this newspaper is right many people swear when having hurt themselves. I do, my mum and dad do so. You must pick up the habit of swearing from someone?
Walter Bagehot states "The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you can't do" I know swearing is wrong and I know I shouldn't do it but I do. I think the reason I swear is because it's a way of saying something with something added on the end. The reason a lot of people swear is becuse of the attention that there get from swearing. I still get told off for swearing whether it is at my sister or even my parents. The funny thing about this is my mum or dad normally swear when telling me off. Swearing is something I picked up from my mum and dad. I think children swear to get attention, to prove independence and to gain peer acceptances. I think children that swear are bad but the question is where do children get the bad language from?

Now when famous people swear it is big news so when people swear on radio it is going to get complaint from listens. Here is a story in a national newspaper about a radio presenter swearing on air.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/7545091/Nicky-Campbell-shocks-Radio-5-Live-listeners-by-swearing.html

I love swearing and I think as i have gone to university I am swearing more and more everday. I think it is a way to say what I think and to say what I feel. So I'm not going to stop swearing it's just when i go home I will not swear as much as I normally would at university. Here is a video of Stephen fry saying why he loves swearing:
