Prostitution

This book has been turned into a television show highlighting that people are still selling there body and going into greater detail about their sex lifes! I think this book has made prostitutes become more socially acceptable because if people know more about the issue we become more acceptable towards the issue of prostitution. I also think that tv shows, books etc make prostitution seem more glamourous!

Well everyone has to earn a living some how . Everyone has different reason as to why they turn to prostitution. These reasons could include- some sort of income to support young children or family, husband that don't work and even to fund a drug or alcohol problem. I'm not saying it is the right thing to do but who are we to judge? I think everyone needs to look at why these people have to turn to selling their body to make cash!! Some might say there are different ways to earn money but for some this is the only way.

When looking up the history of what a prostitute is there are varies views on the topic. One article suggest that in 6th century, there were three types of prostitution where as in one articles it states that prostitute was banned due to christian ideology. Something that make me laugh was that in them times, the women would get punished for selling sex not the men. Now to me it takes two to have sex and to pay and accept money for it! In 1956, there was an act put in place to prohibit people from running a brothel or soliciting, of course this never stopped people.

For more information on the history of protitution:

This is a joke video that put up on youtube about how not to fall in the traps of becoming a prostitute:

I thought this was very funny and it does make a joke about prostitution. However morally is this right?
To me no matter what anyone says or does to try and stop prostitutes, they are still going to be selling their body and as long as people are still willing to pay for it, than it isn't going to stop.

  1. I agree with the argument that prostitution has become a social norm in some areas, because it is portrayed as glamorous and sexy. I also agree with the 'it takes two to tango' and that the responsibility is not shared out to men and the blame is therefore but on the women leading on to calling them derogative words and this leads to losing respect for women. However I am still looking to see women who promote prostitution to their children or speak freely about how they earn a living if they are in this line of work.

  2. Prostetution should be legalised.I think its a great profession and a good buisness for the poor.Thats the only business you don't need any money to venture into it,all you inverst is your body and your commitment. It should not be the government's business to tell people what they should do with their bodies. Both men and women should be able to sell their bodies for money without any fear of being arrested.I think the government should only advise people on how to protect themselves from catching disease.Enjoy and get paid

  3. I completely agree with Emma in terms of that the media highlight prostitution as being a glamorous thing to be involved in, however I do not feel that prostitution is more socially acceptable. As everyone is not a prostitute and if you are involved in prostitution in today's society I feel you would be disapproved and disregarded . Your society would look down upon you and basically treat you badly.I agree with the fact that everyone has to make a living and think Emma has highlighted many of the reason of why people turn to prostitution. I found it interesting and also agree that men are treated differently when it comes to prostitution, I feel that women are also judged differently and that it does take to to tango and agree with the point that women should not take a sole responsibility and be punished when it is both of them involved. They are both as responsible as each other.
