masterbuation

I thought this lecture was really intesting!! Not in the way many people would think. I think it is funny when people tell young children that if they do masterbate, it would fall off and hairs would appear on the palm of the hand. How are children going to learn anything from this message? To me children will only stop for a while then would discover it again. If we tell children that its bad, we are sending a bad image to them. Surely we are being hypocrites, if we are telling children not to do something that we have done during our lifes. 90% of us masturbation so why should we gave children the message thats its wrong to do it?

I think history has something to do with the way we look at masterburation. It was always seen as a bad thing to do let alone talk about it. History has shaped our attuide to this activity. If we had not be throughout history that this masturbation is wrong and that it was a good thing to do. I think we would maybe talk more about it.

In the lecture, people were stating what the other names are for masterbuation. It got me thinking the reason why boys have so many names for the activity. I think this is because boys will be more open and honest about masterbuation while the girls are a lot less open about it and wouldn't not share this information. All the stories that I have ever be told about masterbuation has come from boys that I went to school with, which consits of them telling each other when and how many times they have done it on a day to day basis's. Girls are less likely to talk on the subject, however i'm not saying we don't do it but we just don't openly talk about it! A lot of men masterbate names can be very violence names like pull the monkey where as female names are more playful and softer.

Here is a video of a father embrassement to talk to his son about masturbation:

Lying

Benjamin Franklin stated-"Half the truth is often a great lie." If this is true do we lie everyday or just once in a while? I think we lie everyday, even if it just a small lie. I think we lie to make friends, keep friends and even lie to our parents. Even I have done it!! Everyone lies but at what extent do we lie and why do we lie??

Lying can become out of control, some people become serious liars. If this happen it can have horrible consequences for the people involved and even people who know that person. Whether its lying about who u are to lying about the kind of money we have. The problem with lying about who you are is you start becoming that person and if you lie about money, you will have to started spending that money! Which in many case you just don't have.

The artcial here is about lying and why we lie:
http://www.livescience.com/health/060515_why_lie.html

The professor that looked at lying stated that we lie to boost our self-esteem!

"We find that as soon as people begin to feel that their self-esteem is threatened, they immediately begin to lie at higher levels." If this is true, when ever we feel people are threating us wheather it is to do with the kind of gadges they have, do we lie and say we have this and that. To me there must be different ways to boost our self-essteam other then lying.

This video is about how we lie and why we lie:

Prostitution

This book has been turned into a television show highlighting that people are still selling there body and going into greater detail about their sex lifes! I think this book has made prostitutes become more socially acceptable because if people know more about the issue we become more acceptable towards the issue of prostitution. I also think that tv shows, books etc make prostitution seem more glamourous!

Well everyone has to earn a living some how . Everyone has different reason as to why they turn to prostitution. These reasons could include- some sort of income to support young children or family, husband that don't work and even to fund a drug or alcohol problem. I'm not saying it is the right thing to do but who are we to judge? I think everyone needs to look at why these people have to turn to selling their body to make cash!! Some might say there are different ways to earn money but for some this is the only way.

When looking up the history of what a prostitute is there are varies views on the topic. One article suggest that in 6th century, there were three types of prostitution where as in one articles it states that prostitute was banned due to christian ideology. Something that make me laugh was that in them times, the women would get punished for selling sex not the men. Now to me it takes two to have sex and to pay and accept money for it! In 1956, there was an act put in place to prohibit people from running a brothel or soliciting, of course this never stopped people.

For more information on the history of protitution:

This is a joke video that put up on youtube about how not to fall in the traps of becoming a prostitute:

I thought this was very funny and it does make a joke about prostitution. However morally is this right?
To me no matter what anyone says or does to try and stop prostitutes, they are still going to be selling their body and as long as people are still willing to pay for it, than it isn't going to stop.
